		<description>Valentina Rodríguez

Born in Bogotá, Colombia (1998)&#38;nbsp;Currently studying MA Time based media at Kunstuniversität Linz, Austria. Bachelor in Fine Arts at National University of Colombia.

My artistic journey has been enriched by various experiences, including being awarded the second prize at Premio Arte Jovén 2021
and showcasing my work at some incredible venues, including Nueveochenta Gallery and various film festivals around the world.

My artistic practice goes around the exploration of archive material and found footage. I'm interested in experimenting with&#38;nbsp; images using different techniques such as painting, engraving, drawing, and analog animation. Central to my work is the manipulation of archive-image and the gap between reality and fiction that this may depict.

I have a keen interest in converging drawing and painting within my video works, blurring the lines between traditional and digital mediums in animations and video.&#38;nbsp;

Through deliberate gestures and interventions, I consciously engage in the process of image creation, seeking to blur some of the boundaries of representation and give texture to my works.

		<description>Animation

Central to my artistic practice is the exploration of diverse materials and techniques within the fields of video, Charcoal and ink has become a key material in my praxis, particularly in analog animation to add texture and depth to my animations.

My main interest here is to converge the hand work in the movement- image, as well as exploring other experimental techniques with different materials allowing the material to show their traces and gestures.

Film archive 16mm, Animation.

Imaginary Landscape it’s a procesual project developed through months of conversations reflecting on video, painting and animation. In a pulse for a relational creation, this work ponders about an urge for the beauty of the abstract with small glimpses of reality and, likewise, a shared perception over the need to yearn ways within creation that appeal to paths of freedom, wether in creation or representation.

‘’Closing your eyes and leaving the city behind (…)

Up on a hilltop you are looking back but the city it’s too far away.

The windows seems as it would soak in the world and simultaneously putting out the world apart.

After the moon comes up all shadows fade away and just the pond makes with all his struggle and illness. Diving into the countryside.

Feeling Home.

Feed some sparkling crystals through the moonshine,

As the next day arrives you see some new land coming up and the ponds back mirroring the sky (…)

It looks like the world is upside down and you trying to sort out your feelings. As the days go by you forgot to worry about your life in the city and it looks more like a painting you forgot to watch.

You think to start a fire by cutting down the trees of your imagination.

A cloud of smoke blinds your eyesight as you are standing in the woods.

You rub your eyes to get the tears out.

The sparkling colors just fade away as you open your eyes.

It’s the home dark and you decide to get back into your dreams.

As moon once again get in its journey over the night sky you try to keep some of its glance.’’

Analog photography, Lomokino.
Comissionated piece following the journey between Kleinzell and the powerplant Partenstein, Where the landscape is interviewed by the course of the water going up the hill, the contrast between nature, and the human hand.

The reflection follows along the landscape but also the human connections and the participation of the artists from different nationalities and backgrounds who joined the journey.

Touches and Tensions, 2018Graphite on paper.21x27cm

The body is the first physical instance to understand the world, it’s a maleable bag of memories, passions and desires. Touches and Tensions is an approach to the extremities of the body, to the possibilities of the same to adapt to the new forms conditioned by what surrounds and subdues it.

Borrowed Memories gathers a series of images,
gifs and videos that function as a multimedia expanded archive in the space.
These reflections emerge with a certain point of start in which the images were based on photographic
references and familiar testimonial that have archival treatment as a common place, from the family
album to found footage from diferent latitudes founded in Austria I that feed a visual reconstruction for a tragedy.

Soft Lightpoles, 2018

	With Paola Cardona

Sculpture, mixed media(Steel structures, plush, engraving, etc)

Variable dimensions4mtsx 40cms

From the recognition of the city furniture, light poles appear as almost monumental objects in Latin America, upright and static, crammed with cables and wire, light poles become objects able to display the fonts and images of a turbulent city, a kind of showcase of the -modus vivendi- from the space in which they are located.
